Spring Update!

As I write this, it is Saturday 28th March - the clocks go forward tomorrow and Spring is here! Time for an update! I have been running an Open Mic at the Golden Lion in Barnard Castle for a few months, and it is finally attracting a few mnusicians and listeners. If you fit into either of those categories, why not come along? Every Wednesday, 8.30pm start, PA provided, pints for players!

Gigs have been a little sparse recently - January saw me play at Sticky Fingers in Middlesbrough - my first gig in that town for a long long time - and I have been invited back!
2 great gigs in Sunderland - in January I was at The Independent where I supported Idle Hands - a great band!
And in February I played at a new blues club at The Dun Cow Sunderland, where I was the special guest of George Shovlin & The Radars - another great band and another great night!

March has been interesting - I played another Shakedown Street event in Liverpool - I got to play my own set, play guitar with Jason Parr then sat in for most of the second set by Shakedown Street - which I really enjoyed. There is talk of a festival in the summer too!

Tuesday of this week I was way down South in London - I played at the Tuesday Night Music Club in Coulsdon, Surrey - a long drive but a great venue. Before the show I appeared on the Blues On The Radio show by gig promoter Richard Dunning - I picked a few blues tunes that influenced me, and played 3 songs in the studio too - you can hear the show here.

The gig itself was excellent, a crowd that wanted to listen and were very supportive. There are some great photos taken by John Bull here and there were a few excellent videos shot too - in fact all of that stuff is at my own section of the Tuesday Night Music Club website here.

That great picture at the top of this post is from the gig - and I'll embed the videos over on the video page.

So coming up tomorrow (Sunday 29th March) I will be playing at Smokestack in Leeds - my first gig in that city. The summer is looking busy with a few festival gigs coming in - I will update the gig list once I have all of the confirmations in place.

And this morning I recorded demos of 3 original songs - in preparation for an e.p. release this summer.

As well as all of this I still produce & host The Blues Show on BishopFM every Sunday between 6pm & 9pm - so if you can't get to a gig you can listen to me on the radio!

I will post more frequent updates, especially when I have news about gigs or the e.p., I am working on. In the meantime if you want to keep in touch sign up to the mailing list over there ------->>>>>>>

Gigs, photos and more!

Happy New Year everybody - I hope you had a great festive season whatever you were celebrating!
I've been too quiet for too long, but I wanted to tell you about the great night I had at The Cluny2 when I supported Big Boy Bloater with his one man show. There weren't very many people there -but those who were seemed to enjoy what I did - and Bloater was tremendous, with excellent inventive use of his looper, featuring new songs from his new album Loopy, as well as older tunes too. I really enjoyed myself.
There were a couple of great photographers there, so here are a couple of shots they took.

I've got a few more gigs coming in for this year, January has gigs on January 10th at Hartlepool Supporter's Club - with The Groove-a-matics featuring Johnny Whitehall & George Shovlin & The radars - I'm going to be on at 7.30pm, so get there early!
Friday January 23rd I am doing a support slot at Sticky Fingers, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, and the next night, Saturday 24th January I am supporting Idle Hands at The Independent, Sunderland. It'd be great to see you at any of these gigs.
If you sign up to my mailing list (over there ---->>>) you can keep up to date with gigs and more.
